My Story

I created Executive Decisions as a company because of two major stories in my business life (linked below this).

After I began hosting a leadership lunch in Frisco Texas, I began helping place some executives in positions and continue to place a few positions each year.

As for what inspired Executive Decisions as a media publication, I have eliminated the names in the below story intentionally.

During college, I read a popular publication religiously. In my final year of college, it published two articles I knew lacked truth. To be fair to the popular publication, it later updated the articles to admit this. Regardless, I terminated reading the popular publication and have never read an article from it again.

In 2016, I created a publication with a colleague. I intentionally do not share this publication, as we terminated it, but the domain is owned by someone else. We wrote truth. But we didn't know at the time that no one valued truth. Several years later, we realized that our publication would never be profitable. It did open several doors on other opportunities and we started businesses with those that went on to do extremely well. In reflecting over our lesson from the publication, one lesson we both learned was that a contrarian point of view will never be popular - that’s what makes it contrarian.

I began the media side of Executive Decisions several years later as lesson for my children. As it turned out, I needed to reflect over some of these truths from time to time myself. Rather than take an approach of writing frequently like my friend and I did in the past, Executive Decisions produces a maximum of two articles per month - one free, one paid (up to 2026). This has allowed me to spend more time meeting and working with other leaders.

About

I have spent over a decade in business applying data and security solutions for a variety of industries such as finance, tech, healthcare and others. Additionally, I run a materials business.

In 2011, I completed one of the largest research studies on Millennials. In addition to speaking about data and security, I host a monthly leadership lunch.

Past books: I’ve authored Dying By Comparison and co-authored The Little Book of Positive Returns In Negative Rates with Steve Park.

On Speaking Engagements

I may be open to speaking engagements relative to the topics of leadership or talent management. My regular speaking engagement is Meet Mr Corporate Creature (upcoming book), which is a speech about finding and retaining exceptional talent. You can reach out to me about speaking engagements here.

Authorship

On this site and in my books, all content is written and created by myself or another approved author. Unless noted, no post uses artificial intelligence in content; the only exception where I note AI content is to compare with critical thought. Because of this, you may note spelling or grammatical errors. This is what real, critically thought content looks like, as I tend to be focused on the message. The same applies to other authors.

If I use AI for comparing critical thought on a solution or answer to its lack of one, I will note this for the reader by doing the following:

  • Start AI Summary. This highlighted lead will indicate that what you are reading is the summary of what AI recommends or how AI would answer the problem.

  • End AI Summary. This highlighted end will indicate that the AI summary has ended.

  • I summarize the points that AI recommends while highlighting why AI is missing the big picture. As a note, I only make comparisons to AI content in paid posts and all paid posts are only published on the web or Substack directly.

Comments and Moderation

I love allowing people to comment and reading people’s comments. That being written, if you write inappropriate comments, then they may be removed. Refrain from being rude in comments. Also, avoid divisive topics such as religion or politics.

Calendar

Given my decades of business experience (and current enjoyment of what I do), I produce no more than 2 articles per month. I do not intend to publish more than this or beyond 2027 given and the new AI fair use ruling. At this time, I intend to run Executive Decisions until the end of 2027 and will review the current environment of protecting intellectual property.

Given the recent legal changes, the first full two years (2024 and 2025) provide readers with one free article per month. Starting in 2026 and beyond, all articles will be paid only. I’ve also increased the price intentionally because of the ruling with fair use and what this could mean.

None of this applies to the Executive Decisions leadership lunches and community. These will continue, as they are in-person events and unaffected by AI.

Paid Subscription Structure

Due to fiat currency volatility, all prices are set in decigrams of gold and may be updated multiple times during the year. Generally, prices are set once a year.

The breakdown for subscriptions are as follows:

  • Annual: 10dg (decigrams) of gold, paid in US Dollars.

  • Monthly: about 20% more than the annual subscription.

Affiliates

Executive Decisions is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. I also affiliate with talent management and leadership services that I believe provide exceptional solutions to problems.
